Launching in 2026, The Point is a major new initiative that embodies Socrates’ values of ecological stewardship, artistic experimentation, and public belonging.

Located on an acre at the southernmost tip of the Park, The Point will open to the public for the first time as a reimagined civic space—featuring long-term artist commissions, educational programming, and an exhibition of sculptures by Mark di Suvero.

This project invites New Yorkers and global visitors alike to experience art and land in relationship—with each other, with history, and with the future.

What It Will Take

Real transformation takes time—and support. While the first steps of reorganization and revitalization are already underway, fully realizing this next chapter for Socrates will require long-term commitments from our communities. We are seeking multi-year commitments from foundations, city leaders, cultural funders, and individuals who believe in the long game.

This is not just about one park. It’s about redefining what sustainability, public space, and artistic leadership can look like in the years to come.

We Are the Only One

Socrates is the only institution in New York City that:

  • Collaborates with artists to create and present public art onsite,
  • Manages and stewards a public park, and
  • Serves as an anchor for ecological and cultural resilience in our community.

Our model is rare. Our values are enduring.

But our existence cannot be taken for granted.
